Famed for its glassworks which have been established here since
1291. The glassworkers were originally housed here both for security
against the ever present danger of fire and to prevent foreigners
from stealing their precious secrets. The Glass Museum shows
you the best and worst of Venetian glass, whose gaudy colours
can be an acquired taste. If you are susceptible, any number
of factories close by will cater for your taste. Don't miss the
Romanesque church of Santa Maria e Donato, which has a magnificent
12th century mosaic floor and an imposing Madonna in the apse.
