Its polygonal tower is a landmark in Perugia. The
interior of the church gives an impression
of overwhelming richness. Every inch of the walls is covered
in decoration. Although the foundation dates back to the 10th
century, it was completely transformed in the 16th century. The
canvases in the nave are by l'Aliense, a pupil of Tintoretto.
The choirstalls are of very good quality. The enthusiastic sacristan
will describe in detail the glories of the Sacristy, including
several Saints by Perugino, an Algardi Crucifix, and other paintings
with optimistic attributions. The Benedictine monastery, now
the Faculty of Agriculture of Perugia University, has a number
of fine cloisters.
