With
no cars allowed, and only fishermen for company, you
can still imagine how St Francis must have been inspired
by this haven of peace on his visit in 1211. An excellent
place to appreciate the calm waters of Lake Trasimene
and the soft, rolling hills which surround it. On the
north side of the island stands the simple, Romanesque
church of San Salvatore.

In summer you can take a boat which departs
at regular intervals from the lakeside jetty, it should
take 20 minutes
