The apse of this austere late 13th century church was completely
covered in frescoes of the Life of St Augustine by Benozzo Gozzoli
in 1464-65. They are filled with Gozzoli's love of humorous detail,
his love of the Tuscan landscape and fanciful depictions of all
the places the Saint visited. To the left of the entrance is
another exquisite altar by Benedetto da Maiano, sculpted in 1494.
