This 11th century Romanesque church is truly off the beaten
track (opening times are very variable). It is meant to commemorate
the spot where St Peter first landed in Italy. The honey-coloured
exterior, with its arcading of alternating diamonds and circles,
is very fine. The interior, often filled with flowers to celebrate
a wedding, has 14th century frescoes of the Life of St Peter,
reputedly copies of originals in the old St Peter's in Rome.
