Surrounded by the most beautiful scenery of the Chianti
hills, in between vineyards, woods and olive groves, rises
La Locanda, 600 metres above sea level and three kilometres
from the beautiful medieval hilltown of Volpaia. La Locanda
is a 16th century farm that was converted into a hotel
by Guido and Martina Bevilaqua who after 20 successful
years in international banking decided to follow their
dream and run a small, charming hotel.
There are only seven individually decorated bedrooms,
each with its own private bathroom in the main villa. The
former stableblock has been converted to house the living
room with its vast stone fireplace, the cosy library with
the bar and the dining room which serves delicious local
Tuscan specialities. Beside the swimming pool, with its
breathtaking view, there is the large terrazza where you
can enjoy dinner during the summer months.
La Locanda is the perfect retreat after a walk through
the woods, a visit to Chianti Classico cellar or a hard
day sightseeing in the nearby cities of Florence, Siena,
Arezzo or San Gimignano.
