Day before the Palio
- 17:30h – Guests walk the short distance to watch the trial race in the campo, which includes the ‘Carabinieri’ mounted charge around the track.
- 19:15h – Trial race commences – we feel it is fun for guests to watch from the centre of the square.
- 20:00 – After the race has finished, guests will walk through the cobbled streets of Siena to their dinner with a contrada. Dinner will have been laid out on trestle tables in the streets or square.
Day of the Palio
- In the morning there are lots of events happening, these include the unforgettable blessing of the horses in churches throughout the city, and parades from the contradas to the Campo.
- 16.00h – Walk to a Palazzo overlooking the Campo and take your reserved seats for the race
- 16:30h – The event unfolds with the historic parade of all Siena’s ‘contrada’, this also includes the ones who did not qualify and the old ones who no longer partake the Palio. The flag throwers are particularly entertaining.
- 19:15h – Race commences (there are often many false starts!)
- 19:45h – After the race, guests walk to one of the best restaurants in the city for a traditional Tuscan feast.
A typical Palio package would include the following:

- Tickets for the Palio from the window of a private Palazzo, or a shared stand/balcony.
