Once one of the most fascinating sites in central Italy, with
its strange, disturbing sculptures, this garden, created by Vicino
Orsini, Duke of Bomarzo, to rival Caprarola and the Villa Lante,
is now in a sad state of disrepair. However, the monstrous sculptures,
taken from Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, are still an extraordinary
sight. They appealed strongly to the surreal imagination of Salvador
Dali.
