If you still have the stamina, this vast palace houses one of
the great princely collections of Italy, the result of a series
of dynastic marriages. The sumptuous private apartments are well
worth a visit and the public collection of Old Masters boasts
numerous masterpieces, including works by Raphael and Titian,
and Velazquez's masterly portrait of Innocent X, the Pamphili
Pope. The sitter is reputed to have commented that it was 'too
real' when the Spaniard showed it to him.
