Still one of the most romantic classical sites in the world.
The palaces of the emperors, especially that of Domitian, are
immensely evocative. Don't miss the House of Livia, the wife
of Augustus, with its delightful wall paintings. From the north-west
corner of the hill, next to the 16th century Orti Farnesiani,
where Cardinal Alessandro Farnese constructed his aviaries, you
can enjoy a relaxing view of the Forum, with its crowds of toiling
tourists.
