Walks

Walk 1 - Walk 2 - Walk 3 - Walk 4 - Walk 5

Welcome to the Walks pages - we have listed our suggestions for sight-seeing and interesting places to visit during your trip to Rome.

WALK ONE: Classical Rome

Required Time: Whole Day

San Clemente

Colosseum

Palatine Hill

Forum

Capitoline Hill

The heart of the Roman Republic and Empire. The ruins of the temples, palaces, triumphal arches and amphitheatres conjure up the extraordinary success and longevity of Roman antiquity.

WALK TWO: Trastevere

Required Time: Morning

Tempietto

Santa Maria in Trastevere

Villa Farnesina

Like the left bank in Paris or the South Bank in London, the Trasteverini are still fiercely independent and regard themselves as a race apart.

WALK THREE: Baroque Rome

Required Time: Morning

Piazza Navona

Sant'Agostino

San Luigi dei Francesi

Pantheon

Santa Maria sopra Minerva

Palazzo Doria-Pamphili

Rome will always be associated with the Age of the Baroque. The Baroque style was formed at the beginning of the 17th century by Caravaggio, a painter of disturbing realism and Bernini, an immensely creative and energetic artist.  The only place to really understand the brilliance of these two artists is in Rome, where their works still stand in their original setting.

WALK FOUR: Grand Tour Rome

Required Time: Morning

Trevi Fountain

Spanish Steps

Santa Maria del Popolo

Villa Borghese

Most foreigners stayed around the Piazza di Spagna throughout  the era of the Grand Tour. This walk includes wonderful Renaissance and Baroque architecture.

WALK FIVE: Vatican and St Peter's

Required Time: Whole Day

Vatican

Belvedere Court

Stanze

Sistine Chapel

St Peter's
