The
laid-back feel and understated glamour of this unique, stylish,
Art Deco hotel makes it a favourite with artists, performers
and media people. Each bedroom is different, furnished with antiques,
original lamps and rich fabrics, with marble bathrooms.
Our favourites
include room 309, a single room with a wooden antique bed,
wallpaper covered in pink brocade, and illustrations of birds.
The bathroom
is covered in pink and blue tiles that are so pretty you could
take them home with you. The one and only suite is spectacular,
a vast room resembling the interior of a 19th century palazzo
with blue and yellow brocade curtains, a bookcase stuffed with
leather bound books and murano chandeliers.
There's a popular bar and roof garden or ground floor terrace
for breakfast. In the winter aperitivi can be taken in the drawing
room where the fire is lit during the day. The service can be
a little too laid back and you are well advised to request rooms
in the old part of the hotel rather than the new more sterile
annexe round the corner. The hotel also has a wonderful fleet
of vintage bicycles that it lends to guests to explore the nearby
Villa Borghese and centro storico.
