The picture collection of the Bourbon kings in the palace built
by Charles III in the early 18th century stands high above Naples,
in a park which once contained the famous porcelain factory.
The 1st floor is devoted to the Farnese pictures, including
Titian's uncanny portrait of the Farnese Pope Paul III, a rich
selection
of Florentine painting from Masaccio to Michelangelo, and Mantegna,
Bellini, Correggio, Brueghel and a host of other names. Don't
miss the Sala di Porcellana, a complete room covered in Capodimonte
porcelain. The top floor contains a comprehensive collection
of Neapolitan painting starring Caravaggio's dark and harrowing
Crucifixion.
