A brilliant example of the new Renaissance style of architecture
perfected by Filippo Brunelleschi. He worked here from 1442 until
his death four years later. The interior is notable for the harmony
of its proportions and the restraint of the decoration, with
architectural features carefully picked out in grey pietra serena.
The enamel terracottas surrounding the dome are by Luca della
Robbia. Ironically, this serene building was built for the Pazzi
family, later notorious for their violent attempt to overthrow
the Medici dynasty.
