One of the most beautiful formal gardens in Tuscany. Laid out
by the Capponi family in the 18th century, it consists of connecting
outdoor rooms providing a series of delightful contrasts: a water
parterre surrounded by clipped yew hedges, an extensive bowling
green, a nymphaeum and a limonaia. The American writer Edith
Wharton described it in 1900 as 'probably the most perfect example
even in Italy of great effect on a small scale.'
DIRECTIONS: From Piazza
N Tommaseo (the main square in Settignano) take via del Rossellino
and continue until you reach the villa which you will see on
your right hand side. It should not take more than ten minutes.
