Just a few minutes easy walk from Positano’s maze of romantic cobbled alleyways and its beach where the colorful fishing boats are moored, lies the Hotel Poseidon. Up until 1955, the Poseidon was a summer residence belonging to the Aonzo family who still take great pride in running it as a hotel today. This personal touch is reflected in the friendliness of the staff here.
The Poseidon is famous for its terraced gardens and balconies which have panoramic views out over Positano and on to the sparkling Mediterannean sea. The main terrace sweeps across the front of the hotel where you are surrounded by cascades of colorful bougainvillea and beautiful pot plants, and here you can take most of your meals (the hotel has its own restaurant), and cool off in the swimming pool.
If you feel in need of further pampering, the hotel has its own beauty spa and gym. Another benefit of the hotel is its spacious car-park, a rarity in Positano and a welcome relief from the nightmare of trying to find and negotiate a parking space on the Amalfi coast road.
The hotel is charming, harmonious and elegant, with white-washed walls, antique furniture, oriental rugs and terracotta floors. Most of the luxurious bedrooms overlook the bay of Positano, although some have a garden view.
